Caring for Your Wellness Products: Cleaning, Charging and Storage

A few simple habits keep your products hygienic, working properly and lasting for years.

Caring for Your Wellness Products: Cleaning, Charging and Storage

Quality personal wellness products are an investment. Looked after properly, they stay hygienic, perform well and last for years. Here are the simple habits that make the biggest difference.

Always start with the manufacturer’s instructions

Every product is different. Materials, waterproof ratings and charging methods vary, so check the instructions that came with your product first. If you have lost them, most brands publish care guides on their websites, and sellers on Zurgle are always happy to help – just message them from your order.

Clean before and after every use

Regular cleaning is the most important thing you can do.

  • Body-safe silicone and similar materials: warm water with a mild, unscented soap or a dedicated toy cleaner works well. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Waterproof products: can usually be rinsed under the tap. Check the rating first – “splash-proof” is not the same as fully waterproof.
  • Non-waterproof products: wipe with a damp cloth and cleaner, keeping water away from charging ports and buttons.

Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol-based cleaners and abrasive cloths, which can damage surfaces over time.

Dry completely

Pat dry with a clean, lint-free towel and let products air-dry fully before storing them. Trapped moisture is the main cause of hygiene problems.

Charge the right way

  • Use the charger supplied with the product.
  • Make sure the product and its charging contacts are completely dry before charging.
  • Don’t leave products charging indefinitely; unplug once fully charged.
  • If you won’t use a product for a while, charge it every few months to keep the battery healthy.

Store with care

Store products separately, ideally in the pouch or box they came in. Some materials can react with each other if they touch for long periods. Keep them somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sunlight.

Choose compatible lubricants

Water-based lubricants are compatible with almost every material. Silicone-based lubricants can damage silicone products, so check compatibility before using them together.

Know when to replace

Signs that a product should be replaced include cracks, tears, a sticky or changed surface texture, or a battery that no longer holds a charge. When in doubt, replace it.
